The
last truck parade in Orleans Parish follows the Krewe of
Elks-Orleanians, and signals the official "beginning of the end" of
Carnival. From the time the last truck passes, the day begins to
prepare for the inevitable unmasking at sunset and the meeting of the
courts.
The krewe sets no overall theme for their units, with each float
bearing its own title and theme.
This
krewe was stopped from marching in the 149th Carnival
celebrations
by Hurricane Katrina. The krewe shares that bond with
Adonis,
Aphrodite, Arabi,
Atlas, Bards, Choctaw,
Cleopatra,
Gladiators, Grela, Hermes, L'il
Rascals,
Mercury, NOMTOC, Oshun,
Pegasus,
Pontchartrain, Saturn, and du Vieux. |
